During Fire Prevention Week 2001, the several District #4 Volunteers helped with the Fire Prevention Week Program sponsored by District #3 (New Hope) at the West Lowndes Elementary and Middle School which is in District #5 fire protection area!
District #4 is located in the southwest corner of Lowndes County. The department covers approximately 30 square miles. The department is bordered by Lowndes County District #5 on the north side and Noxubee County on the south side. The department protects a population base of approximately 1000 persons.
District #4 has three stations with the primary station located in Crawford Mississippi.
The Department has three Class 1 pumpers and three tankers. The Fire Protection area is rated as a Class 9 by the Mississippi Rating Bureau.
District #4 is fortunate to have a set of the Jaws of Life donated by the Lowndes County District #2 Volunteer Fire Department.
The District #4 Fire Chief is Louis Hairston and has been leading the department for the last two years.
